Free alternative to Toggl Track and Harvest

A free time tracker with timesheets and reports.

Time is a free time tracker and a free alternative to Toggl Track and Harvest. Start a timer in one tap, fill in a weekly timesheet, see reports with billable amounts, export CSV and turn billable hours into an invoice. No sign-up, no paid plan, no limit on projects or people.

  • Billable rates, reports and CSV export, all free
  • Unlimited projects, clients, tags and teammates
  • No sign-up: the timer starts right now
Start the timer

Free. No sign-up.

How it works

  1. Start the timer

Type what you are working on, pick a project and press Start. It keeps running when you close the tab, and shows in the tab title.

  2. Fill in the week

Forgot the timer? Add time afterwards, or type a day's total into the weekly timesheet, like 1:30.

  3. Report and bill

See hours and billable amounts by project, client, tag and person. Export CSV, or turn billable hours into an invoice.

Everything a time tracker needs, free

  • One-tap timer

Description, project, client, tags and a billable switch. Continue any past entry with one tap. Start it on your phone, stop it on your laptop.

  • Weekly timesheet

A row per project and a column per day. Type a total and Time adds or changes the entry behind it. On a phone, one day at a time.

  • Reports and charts

Today, this week, last month or any range. Totals by project, client, tag and person, hours per day, and every entry. Export CSV.

  • Billable rates

A default hourly rate and one per project, in your currency. See what each project earned, counted exactly to the cent.

  • Invoices from your hours

Pick a client and Time sends the billable hours to Invoice, which opens the invoice ready to download as a PDF.

  • Team projects by link

Share a project and teammates log their time to it, no sign-up. You see everyone's time on that project; they see nothing else of yours.

For freelancers

A free time tracker for freelancers

Set your rate, mark time billable, and see what you earned this week. When the month ends, create the invoice from your hours and send your client the link. Your accountant gets a CSV.

For small teams

A free timesheet app for a team

Share a project by link and everyone logs time to it from their own timer or timesheet. You get one report of who worked how long, at your rates. No seats to buy.

For AI assistants

Your assistant can keep your timesheet.

Create a workspace key in Settings and give it to your assistant. It can start and stop the timer, add time you forgot, list entries and read reports, through a plain HTTP API.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to Toggl Track?
Yes. Time is a free time tracker with the parts of Toggl Track most people use: a one-tap timer, manual entries, a weekly timesheet, projects, clients and tags, and reports with CSV export. Billable rates, team time and invoices are free too, with no user limit. Toggl Track's free plan is for up to 3 users, and its paid plans were reported at $9 to $16 per user a month billed yearly in 2026.
What is a free alternative to Harvest?
Time. Like Harvest it tracks time against projects and clients with hourly rates, shows billable amounts, and turns billable hours into an invoice. It is free for any number of projects and people. Harvest's free plan was reported in 2026 as 1 seat and 2 projects, with paid seats at $9 a month billed yearly or $11 monthly.
Is Time really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan and no limit on projects, clients, entries or teammates. There are no ads and no third-party trackers, and nothing is sold. The hosting counts visits. Time costs very little to run, and OpenApps pays for it. If a feature ever costs real money to run, it will be optional, charged at cost, and it will say so.
Is Time a good free time tracker for freelancers?
It is made for that: set an hourly rate per project or one default rate, mark time billable, see what you earned this week or month, export CSV for your accountant, and create an invoice from your billable hours in a few taps. It does not connect to calendars or other apps, and it does not take screenshots or watch your activity.
Do I need an account?
No. Press Start and the timer runs. Your time is saved in a guest workspace in this browser. To have it on your phone and laptop, sign in with your email from Settings and Time moves everything into your account.
Can my team track time together?
Yes. Share a project by link. Teammates who open it log their time to that project with no sign-up, and you see everyone's time and the amounts at your rate in Reports. They see only that project, not your other projects, rates or time. There are no approvals, roles or time-off tracking.
Can I make an invoice from my tracked hours?
Yes. In Reports, press Create an invoice, pick the client, and Time sends the billable hours and rates to Invoice, the free OpenApps invoice app, which opens the invoice ready to add your logo and download as a PDF. Only the invoice lines, your name and the client's name are sent.
Can my AI assistant track time for me?
Yes. Create a workspace key in Settings and give it to your assistant. With the public API it can start and stop the timer, add time, list entries and read reports. The API is described in llms.txt and openapi.json.
How does Time compare with Clockify?
Both have a free plan with a timer, timesheet and reports. Clockify's free plan was reported in 2026 to keep reports to 1 month of data, to export PDF only and to put billable rates on paid plans; those reports came partly from a competitor, so check Clockify's site. Time has no such limits: any range, CSV export and billable rates are free.
What does Time not do?
It has no calendar or app integrations, no idle detection, screenshots or activity tracking, no approvals or time off, and no offline tracking: the timer needs a connection to start and stop. Each workspace has one currency.
